Why you need SEF URLs
No matter who you are and what kind of website you have, if you are serious about getting the most from your website, you will insist on SEF URLs.
SEF means search engine friendly. URL stands for uniform resource locator: it is tech speak for the location and name of your web page.
Google loves web page names that are identical to the page's header and content. Look at the address bar in your browser for this web page. It reads "search-engine-friendly-webpage.html".
When a search engine "scans" your website, it's looking for a few things: What is this site all about? What kind of content does it have? The starting point is the web page name. The name should clearly indicate what the page is about.
The web page name is the starting point for a search engine. It then looks at your web page's header for more clues about the page. That's the next topic in this series.
