SEF and what it means for your business
Search Engine Friendly (SEF) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) are slightly related functions of website development.
SEF refers to features in the HTML part of your website that enable search engines to find our website. There's a secret mathematical equation (algorithm) that governs how google works to list and rank its search results.
SEO refers to re-doing or re-organizing a website to make it more SEF. Both SEO and SEF focus on the structure of your HTML.
Most web firms use a CMS - content management system - to manage your website's design and content. They're smart to do this because CMSs save a ton of time. But not all CMSs are created equal.
After using several CMSs we've settled on an open source CMF, which stands for framework. A CMF allows you to create a custom CMS to suit your individual business' needs. It's easier to create custom web apps for a CMS when using a CMF.
It's also a lot easier to create an ultra SEF website using a CMF than with any other CMS because we get to have a fine level of control over exactly how the site functions and whether or not parts of your website need all, some or none of the SEF features enabled.
